Record-breaking DDoS attack detected amid surge in threats in Q3 2023

A new report from cybersecurity firm Cloudflare highlights a significant increase in cyberattacks during the third quarter of 2023.

The report, which analyzed data from millions of websites and networks, found that the number of DDoS attacks increased by 60% compared to the previous quarter.

One of the most notable findings in the report was the detection of a record-breaking DDoS attack that targeted a major cloud provider.

The attack, which peaked at 71 million requests per second, was the largest ever recorded and is believed to have been carried out by a botnet of over 15 million devices.

The report also found that the average size of DDoS attacks has increased by 30% in the past year, with some attacks reaching over 100 million requests per second.

This increase in attack size is likely due to the growing availability of powerful botnets that can be easily rented or purchased on the dark web.

the report also found a significant increase in other types of cyberattacks, including malware infections, phishing attacks, and ransomware attacks.
